“The idea for Nuvo Maternity was born just after the birth of my second son late in 2005 while I was on maternity leave from teaching. As a breastfeeding mum I found it hard to find clothes to nurse in that were both fashionable, high quality and comfortable.

“I was looking for versatile pieces that could take me from pregnancy to breastfeeding and beyond. I also wanted to feel great in clothing that would flatter and adapt to my changing shape.

“After extensive research I found stylish, high quality fashionable breastfeeding clothing from both Australian and overseas designers to meet these important requirements!

“Mum Knows Breast came about after research for Nuvo Maternity revealed new and breastfeeding mums are looking for more information, support and encouragement to help them breastfeed. Many are looking for support from other mums who have experienced the same things they are going through and what better place to find support than mumspace.net!  I am so excited to be working with Mumspace co-founder Candice Pendergast to help provide all the support mums need on their breastfeeding journey!

Mumspace.net is based in Sydney, NSW, was opened to the public on 17 February 2007 and is a tool exclusively for mums to create their own blog (their mumspace) where they can add posts, photo albums and much more, plus a social network by way of friends, groups and forums. Most of all, we give mums the freedom to do what the want with their mumspace - to help mums share, support and succeed.

 Mumspace.net is the brainchild of Candice Pendergast, who is mum to two-and-a-half year old Charley, who was born premmie at 29 weeks, and who never sleeps. Literally. You can read all about her sleep deprivation on her mumspace at www.madmadmummy.mumspace.net.

“Mumspace was born out of my frustration with other social networks, particularly myspace. I tried alot of them and tried to start blogs and network with other mums, but mainly found myself inundated with friend and group requests from gothic teens asking me to come watch their podcast.

“So I wanted to create a place where mums could come and create and network alongside mums just like them. And so mumspace.net was born.

“Essentially, I have built mumspace.net as a tool for mums – a tool to create your own mumspace, to set up your own group such as Mum Knows Breast, to make friends and network with other mums – and so much more is being planned.

“Mum Knows Breast is a primary example of what you can do with the tools on mumspace.net. Kelly from Nuvo Maternity was one of our original mumspacers, and when she suggested Mum Knows Breast to me, I couldn’t think of a better way to use mumspace.net to help mums – and so I got involved.
