I am currently breastfeeding my third child. I breastfed Silas for 14 months, Hattie for 12 months and Luke is still going strong at 7 months.
I love breastfeeding. I love the benefits and economical value.
I am almost 4 months into breastfeeding my first child. I needed a transfusion after delivery and was in bed rest for a week so they worried i wasnt getting my milk in properly so they put me on Motilliumm, and expressing and comping with Formula - they were wrong! I had an absolute oversupply of milk with major engorgement problems just starting to settle down. I am still struggling with an ongoing problem with blocked ducts and avoiding mastitis. My goal was for 6 months, but i love the bonding experience and it should only get easier as time goes on so would like to go to 12 months (as long as i can tame these blockages as they are quite stressful).
Thanks for sharing your story. I hope the blocked ducts settle down for you soon! I found applying heat before a feed and cold afterwards really seemed to help. I also tried to massage out any lumps while I was in a hot shower.
